Headspinning

My update frequency is getting worse instead of better. Hm.

This should be brief, then, given that I’ve probably forgotten so much of what’s been happening.

We’ve done the usual activities: Scouts, swimming, fencing, etc. We’ve been to see two movies courtesy of Film Education – Horton Hears a Who, which was disappointing, and Madagascar 2, which wasn’t. Most of the kids had seen the latter already, but it was new to Cyril and me, and we both enjoyed it.

Jack continued to complain of a sore neck, and then complained of it getting worse, and then started to cry, and I took him to see the GP, who said much the same she’d said to me the week before: soft tissue injury, use heat to ease, wait for it to get better on its own. Several of us got coughs and fevers (again – we’ve been ill more in the last two months than there is usually in a whole year) – including Louie, which has made life fairly miserable for him (unable to nurse) and thus for me (unable to do anything else).

We collected a nine-seater Caravelle, and we all went out in one vehicle. That hasn’t happened in ages. I spent more time getting frustrated with the insurance company, who seem determined to make everything more complicated. I am so not impressed.

We still have the stupid Landrover Discovery in the drive as well, because that hasn’t been collected yet. I hope it will be picked up today though.

I registered for an OU course in Spanish, because I’m insane.

Cyril decided that he wants to go back to France. Lengthy discussions took place, between Jacques and him, between his maman and him, between me and him, between me and him and George, but he still wants to go home. I’m sorry he’s made that decision, but it is his decision, and he flies home next Thursday. George is understandably upset, and although he can still go to France, we are very unsure about that at the minute, for a variety of reasons. We’ll give it a few weeks – a few weeks when we’re not lurching from one crisis to the next, I hope – and discuss it some more.

And that’s all for now, because my infamous to-do list has become even longer over the last few weeks, and I am still trying to catch up. I’m sure there’s lots I’ve forgotten; maybe I’ll write about some of it later. Don’t hold your breath though

Am so sorry the exchange hasn’t worked out. Hope George recovers about it and that it turns out to be an experience he and Cyril grow because of, despite it not going to plan.

    And – breathe….
