I’m raising an entrepreneur or something

When we got the pups, we bought two red Kongs. For those who don’t know, Kongs are chew-toys you can stuff with bits of food or treats to keep a dog entertained and satisfy the chewing urge. They aren’t cheap, but they are very tough, and last for years - if you don’t lose them. Last time we were at the caravan, we lost one, so I replaced it with a slightly larger size, in a fetching pink and white pattern. The lost red Kong has since been found, but the pink and white one is now missing. It’s bound to be around the house or garden somewhere, so I asked Jack to go look for it. Twenty seconds later, he said he couldn’t find it.

Me: Go and look a bit more. I’ll give you fifty pence if you find it.
Jack: I’ll want a lot more than that!
Me: Oh? Really?
Jack: Yes, I want six hundred pounds.
Me: I see. Cheaper to buy a replacement Kong then.
Jack: That is my favourite number. Five and four and six hundred, they are my favourite numbers.
