My house is clean, but it is not tidy. Occasionally the mess gets to me and I attack a portion of it. Yesterday the boys and I tidied the bedrooms where George, Freddy and Jack sleep. Today it was the turn of the living-room - which might more accurately be called the library.
It took six hours to go through all the books, sort them and put them back on shelves. Six hours. With four of us working on it - well, okay, three of us, since Jack was more of an observer and commenter. And that’s just the books in one room.
I’m beginning to think that maybe there is such a thing as too many books. No doubt I’ll have changed my mind by the next time we pass a bookstore though.

Every now and again Bob scares the hell out of me by telling me that the integrity of the house is being threatened by the books upstairs and in the loft. I’m not even sure he’s joking any more.
The solution is obviously to line every wall in the house with bookshelves; that’s certain to improve the structural strength of the house
