Fastest Update Ever
On Saturday I worked out while Barney, George and Freddy had their swimming lessons. I took them home, everyone had a snack, then I left George and Freddy back at the leisure centre for gymnastics while Barney, Henry and I went to buy a Christmas tree. Brought one home, fought with lights.
It was back to the shops on Sunday to try to buy lights; not as easy as you’d think, what with the whole out-of-stock business and the whole the-range-changed-this-year-so-no-bulb-replacements thing and the whole outdoor-lights-on-white-strings stuff. We did manage to get the Christmas tree lit and decorated, and it looks good. We gave up on the outdoor lights though.
Monday - ah yes, the inevitable-when-Deb-does-updates lost day. I think we did errands, though I can’t think what. There may have been some education involved too
I know Freddy and George had their sports club, and I know Freddy went to ju-jitsu, but I only know those things because they’re on the calendar.
Yesterday - and I’m not counting this bit as “update”, since it’s only a day old
- I gave in and bought the outdoor lights with the white strings. I also bought some fabric to make a tablecloth for Christmas - it’s sort of silver and black, and will look Christmassy when combined with bits of tinsel or silver, but not otherwise, so it can be used throughout the year. We went to buy vitamin c and zinc too, since there are various people looking grey on and off, and I’m coughing and hoarse. Fortunately Scratchy seems better, though his neck is still bothering him and he’s got an appointment with a chiropractor tomorrow. Barney threw up at the shopping centre
- not like him - but he seemed to recover fast. We came home and got the lights installed on the bushes at the front of the house before throwing dinner at the boys; then I took off with Freddy and Jack for Beavers. There was no regular Beavers meeting tonight: a Scout Centre near us puts on an annual Christmas event and we’d booked to take the Beavers to that. It was great
They started off with games and giant toys in a huge enclosed area, then there was a trek through the forest looking for stars (which had been attached to trees), stopping part-way for Christmas crafts in tents. Then we walked on to a nativity scene and sang Christmas songs “to wake up Santa” (according to Mrs. Claus, who kept coming to the door and saying he was still asleep and we’d have to sing louder :-D) Then a visit with Santa himself, who was in fine form
and gave each of the Beavers a gift, then on to Santa’s kitchen for sausages and juice. It was a cold evening, but dry and clear and a good time was had by all ![]()
