Monday!
We’d a very slow start this morning; I think everybody was just wiped out by yesterday (if you can’t see yesterday’s post, you’re not logged in :-)) Most of the morning was spent lying around with books (kids) and computer (me). After lunch we made up for it though
We had a look at a book about weather, clouds in particular (quite appropriate for a day like today), then Freddy went and spent an hour or so on the computer playing Rosetta Stone while Barney and George and I looked at the Usborne art book and talked about Botticelli’s “The Birth of Venus”. Then Barney and George wrote brief letters in French and Barney did a bit of ICT. Freddy and George did a bit of maths each; before they’d finished their friend R arrived to call. They were all about to start drawing for Illustration Friday so they invited him in to join them. I took a photo of R’s drawing along with the rest, and all will be posted later; he’s excited about the idea of one of his drawings appearing on the internet. Barney decided to spend some time on Rosetta Stone, and the others played for the rest of the afternoon.
Freddy invited R to stay for dinner; fortunately it was only spaghetti so there was plenty to go around
While it was cooking, Freddy came in and asked if we could do some handwriting practice; I said no, because I was busy. It occurred to me that the conversation probably throws a bit of a curve-ball in the autonomous education game
Scratchy convinced the boys to give ju-jitsu a miss tonight, so I suggested a deal: if they all tidied up the house, R could stay over (I phoned R’s house to check it was okay first). Result! The house is now vastly improved, and R has headed across the road to take his bicycle home and bring back his pyjamas
