The washing machine is not fixed. Oh, sure, it’s not pouring water all over the floor now, but it’s also not actually washing the laundry. It’s going through the cycle, filling and emptying - only perhaps not emptying. The water is going out, but the laundry coming out is still very wet, very detergent-y, and, I suspect, not very clean.
Would buying a large-volume, energy-efficient machine be justifiable, do you think?

Retail therapy rarely needs justification - and when it is spending on money on something tedious like a washing machine, any extra buzz you can give it has to be good.
I take it you’ve checked the things like the filter/out pipe for fluff and kinks? Thats what caused that kind of thing in ours because it wasn’t draining properly in the first stage so wasn’t getting clean water for rinsing because it was already full.
Apart from that I have a 7.5kg machine thats quite energy efficient and apart from the fact that the child lock doesn’t stop a certain child turning the whole damn thing off (I mean, come on, child lock, you lock *all* the buttons right?!) its lovely!
I managed to get an automatic toploader whirlpool for really cheap and nearly new , it’s wonderful …. shhhh don’t let it here me incase it decides to go break too !
