A host of tantrums

We’d friends here today *waves to H, S, J and L* - it was lovely to see them all, though I wouldn’t blame them if they never came back, given how most of my children were behaving. Freddy went up to J and said he’d a secret, then yelled so hard in her ear he left her crying. Barney was just moody all day, and eventually I got fed up and sent him to his room for the rest of the afternoon. Jack was in full-on-defiant-and-argumentative mode, so that made everything just so much more restful. For once, George was the calm, no-trouble-at-all child - he saved up his meltdown for dinnertime *sigh*

We did get a bit of ICT and writing done before they came, and I enjoyed chatting with H while Toby slept in my arms, so that bit was nice anyway. And knowing they were coming pushed me to get the house reasonably tidy yesterday - after dinner, everyone was given a job or two to do, and sent to various rooms. It worked very well; within 45 minutes the house was, if not spotless, at least fairly tidy and organised, and I’d managed to catch up on all the paperwork. I think we need to have guests more often… anyone fancy a visit? :-D

I’d really like to you know, i’m very overdue a visit to Northern Ireland to uncover my heritage. And 5 boys v 4 girls would be so cool :) Hm… it won’t happen this year, for one reason and another, but perhaps we could make a date for next?
