Head and shoulders, knees and toes

hi today mummy was walking down the stairs when messmaker started to mess about and tripped mummy up and we have a baby platyi/fish.

That was Freddy’s blog-post this morning, and while it’s all true, I feel it requires some explanation ;-)

1. “Messmaker” is Jack. You should be able to work out for yourself why he has been given this nickname, and if you can’t, just read the posts from the last couple of days.

2. Jack wasn’t really messing about on the stairs; he just sat down unexpectedly while walking downstairs in front of me.

3. I did indeed trip over him. I fell down about five stairs before I could stop myself. I was carrying Toby (again *sigh*) and I banged his head on one of the spindles supporting the stair-rail. He had a very large bump on the back of his head, but it has gone down quite a bit and he doesn’t seem to be suffering any other ill-effects. I banged my left elbow, right wrist, right knee, right ankle, the right side of my head and the toes on my right foot. They are all now sore - especially my right foot, which is swollen and has changed colour several times in the last three hours. I can’t put it to the ground and I can’t move my toes, but it’s not quite painful enough to convince me to go and wait in Casualty.

4. We do have a new platy fish, as I mentioned yesterday - but I feel I must make it clear that this is entirely unrelated to me falling downstairs LOL Freddy’s blog makes it sound like some kind of unnatural act ;-)

When I stopped sitting on the stairs and crying, I hobbled to the kitchen and nursed Toby for a few minutes. Then I put him in his high-chair and he munched on some toast alongside his brothers while I felt sorry for myself in the dining-room. I’m told that during this time, he told them what happened - by looking at Jack, then looking at me, then banging his hand down hard on the high-chair tray :-D

We have an appointment for Toby’s sweat-test and ECG tomorrow morning; I was going to go on the train and walk from the station to the hospital, rather than drive into the city during rush-hour, but I fear that plan may need revision in light of the whole foot-not-touch-ground thing :-/
