Let’s talk about the weather
I’m hot and sticky and I love it!
Yesterday was Monday and I’ve managed to forget it again - I know there was some bookwork done, and I know there was some playing outside, and I know there was ju-jitsu in the evening for the oldest three, but beyond that I give up. Oh, I remember that our half-cat made a re-appearance - he stopped living here way back about October, but every few months he shows up, eats something and goes away again. Obviously he’s sleeping and getting fed somewhere else these days, but it’s nice to see him every so often and know he’s okay.
Today we started with some work in the dining-room - our usual spot - but I suggested eating lunch outside since the weather was so good. However when it was time to serve lunch, I asked for some help and was totally ignored, so I decided to serve Toby and me and let the rest of them rot
Eventually everyone had helped themselves to something to eat, but nobody ate outside - so I suggested taking the books out instead.
Freddy and Jack ran about the garden, bouncing on the trampoline etc, while Barney did some maths and George worked on his French book. I had a surge of energy and put Toby in the Storchie and mowed the lawn - exercise and sauna all in one
Toby fell asleep, and once the mower was put away again, I collapsed under the parasol on the patio with a book
But the weather was too good to waste… so I sent all the boys inside with instructions to return in shorts and t-shirts and no shoes or socks. When they came out, the super-soakers were waiting for them
We’ve quite a variety now - apart from those we already had, Freddy got a collection of them for his birthday last month. So I told them to do their worst - and that whoever was wettest when Scratchy arrived was the winner
They had a great time and I got to sit under the parasol and laugh at them
I wouldn’t actually have minded getting wet, because I was so hot, but I didn’t think Toby would be too keen!
Dinner was a thrown-together affair, except for Freddy, who went to McDonalds with all the Beavers, as it was the last night. Barney had an exam at St John Ambulance Cadets this evening - I’ve no idea what the exam was for, but he had to do some first-aid things, and he passed
Off to have a shower before bed now ![]()

As bad as me, I bodily carried my bigger two away from the PS2, dumped them in the garden and locked the door so none of them could get back inside! I sat out there with them and they just sat there looking at me like being outside was the most evil punishment ever evented *sigh* I swear come the summer holidays the PS2/gameboys are going to disappear overnight and go on holiday for a week!
