Too Quiet

You wouldn’t really think a house could feel empty with four boys in it, but mine does. Can’t wait to collect George from Camp tomorrow.

Normal Saturday morning: swimming for Barney and Freddy (but not George, since he’s away), followed by Fit Kids for Barney, who then went swimming again. It’s been a lovely warm day with just a gentle breeze - perfect weather :-) - so we spent a good portion of it outside. I visited the garden centre that’s just a couple of miles from here, and bought stuff to kill the weeds under the bushes. Freddy spent most of the afternoon either here or across the road at his friend R’s house. R’s little sister arrived here unexpectedly this afternoon - she’s three, and her mum thought she was watching television, but she let herself out the front door and crossed the road to see us!

We considered barbecuing for dinner, but by the time we got our act half-together, it was getting cooler and most of the garden was in the shade, so we decided not to.

I meant to mention before that Barney received a chain-letter this week. According to the letter, children have been passing it along since 1996, and if they continue until next winter, it will go into the Guinness Book of Records. It even claimed you could post letters with the words “Guiness Book of Records for Children” written where a stamp would normally go and get it posted on for free. All nonsense, of course!

Freddy had 50 pence left of the money he got for Easter - he’d completely forgotten about it until he found it in the pocket of his trousers yesterday, but it’s been burning a hole in there ever since. Today he spent 40 pence buying Yugi-Oh cards from R, and when he heard the ice-cream van at dinnertime, he was keen to go spend the remaining 10 pence - but the ice-cream van only stopped for about 30 seconds before driving off again! He was so disappointed - so we called the ice-cream van driver names and promised to buy ice lollies for after dinner tomorrow, when George will be there to have one too.

There were a few difficult things going on in the last week or so - both technical and personal. If you’re logged in you should be able to see the posts about the personal.
