Panic over

You didn’t know there was a panic?

Oh that’s right, I didn’t blog - because I was too busy walking the streets trying to find my three-year-old! We were in a neighbour’s house, then we left and I stood chatting at the door for a minute, thinking Jack had gone back into our own house. Only he hadn’t. And was nowhere to be found. George and Freddy were playing in the garden at their friend’s house across the road, but Jack wasn’t with them. Barney rode the neighbourhood on his bike, but couldn’t find Jack. Our neighbours were about to go out, but they went back indoors to check in case Jack had gone back in; he hadn’t. And Scratchy was home, and in our house, and Jack hadn’t come in.

Eventually, just as I was about to raise the alarm, the car door opened, and Jack stepped out.

*%^#&%&*$

Yesterday he dropped our water-filter jug on the kitchen floor and it cracked, flooding the kitchen floor. So did Jack come and tell me? No. Did he get something to soak it up? No. What did he do? He went outside and pulled up handfuls of grass and tried to plant them in the water.

And Jack’s not the only one.

On Sunday night (yes, I know it’s Thursday, but I don’t often have two hands free to type, ok?) the boys were sleeping in their new bedroom for the second night. In the early hours, Freddy woke up and was doing that wail/whine thing that they do when they’re not quite crying but not awake enough to talk either. Scratchy turned on the hall light and went into the bedroom to find Freddy holding his crotch and running around the middle of the room in circles. He needed the bathroom, but couldn’t figure out how to get out of the room  And after Scratchy had taken him to the bathroom, he walked out and stood at the top of the stairs in total confusion because he couldn’t figure out how to get back to bed either!

Never a dull moment.
